I also do remember this group being the talk of the town in many circles. I didn't know about one of them getting into trouble with security at an event though. Bold move to make, definitely heard a rumor of that story but I guess it was always true. Dreamhack Atlanta is where a few kids were talking about it though if I remember correctly. I feel like it was just such a different time, I don't even think devkits are even that accessible anymore and really video game piracy has moved to the cryptographic space with a little higher barrier to entry.
