What is "New England"

Why the hell do these people call it New England.

New England is a northeastern region of the United States comprising the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. It's known for its Colonial past, Atlantic coastline, changing autumn foliage and forested mountains. Boston, Massachusetts, the region’s hub, pre-dates the American Revolution, and its Freedom Trail passes sites that were critical to the nation’s founding.

The only real or logical reason I can see us calling it new england, is out of respect for the crowns involvement in establishing the America we know and love today. Otherwise why is it not just the Atlantic North East?

Pretty interesting stuff, I have long forgot about Britannica being a thing. This is the encyclopedia company right?

Makes me wonder how that region seem to be more progressive than Georgetown, Williamsburg and Virginia's settlements.

I believe so, but I’m not entirely sure, truth be told. That would be an interesting thing to pursue. Unraveling the mysteries of why they chose to settle, and the affects it has on future generations.
